Jia Zhi & Julia began their wedding day at the Church of the Holy Family, surrounded by the quiet rituals and traditions that come with saying yes in a place that carries its own sense of ceremony.

There were vows, rings, nervous glances and all the little moments in between. Nothing needed to be manufactured. I simply stayed close and let the day unfold — the hands reaching for each other, the looks exchanged across the church, and those fleeting seconds that say far more than any posed photograph ever could.

And then we stepped outside.

With a little time to spare, we wandered along East Coast Road for a completely impromptu mini shoot. No elaborate plan. No carefully constructed locations. Just the two of them, a camera, and whatever we happened to find along the way.

That was when things got slightly unhinged.

The composed newlyweds disappeared pretty quickly. Out came the ridiculous expressions, the laughter, the messing around and the kind of energy that only happens when two people are comfortable enough with each other to stop caring what they look like.

And that contrast is exactly what I loved about photographing them.

Because a wedding day can be sacred and silly. Quiet and chaotic. A promise made inside a church, followed by two newlyweds messing about along East Coast Road.

I discovered both sides of them. And both sides deserve to be remembered.
